Paul Margolis is a Partner at Longworth Venture Partners and brings more than 25 years of entrepreneurial and investor experience to Longworth. In 1980, Mr. Margolis co-founded enterprise resource planning (ERP) software leader Marcam Corporation, which grew under his 16-year leadership to over $200 million in revenues and more than 1,200 employees. He led Marcam's successful IPO in 1990 and as Chairman he led the spinout of Marcam Solutions and Mapics, Inc. into two public companies in 1997, achieving a market capitalization of more than $380 million.
Mr. Margolis received Inc. Magazine's "Entrepreneur of the Year" award in 1992. Mr. Margolis is a director of Dendrite International Marathon Technologies, MCA Solutions and SupplyWorks, Inc. He also is Vice Chairman of Big Brothers of Massachusetts Bay. He earned his MBA from Harvard Business School and his BA from Brown University.
Rick joined TD Capital Ventures as a founding member in January 2001. Rick's areas of focus include enterprise and communications infrastructure. He serves as a Director of Bridgeport Networks, Brabeion, Everypoint, Verdasys, and EqualLogic, and has made investments in iPhrase, Softricity, and Cloakware. Prior to joining TD Capital Ventures, Rick was one of the early team members at Adero, an Internet Content Distribution Services provider. While at Adero, he was responsible for the strategy and marketing of the Content Bridge division, acquired by Inktomi. Prior to joining Adero, Rick was Director of Marketing for ClearOne, an audio and video teleconferencing start-up acquired by Gentner Communications (now ClearOne Communications). He began his career at PictureTel (acquired by Polycom), where he worked as both a Senior Engineer and Marketing Manager. Rick has also worked for Fidelity Ventures and General Electric.
Rick received his MBA from Harvard Business School and earned Bachelor and Master's degrees in Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is a Charter Member of TiE and holds a United States Patent.
Mr. Waits brings a diverse history of success in Business Development, Sales, and Marketing to Brabeion. Prior to founding Brabeion, Mr. Waits served as Vice President of Business Development at e-Security, the leading provider of Security Event Management. During his tenure at e-Security Mr. Waits was responsible for developing key strategic relationships, including PricewaterhouseCoopers and Hewlett Packard.
Mr. Waits joined e-Security after three years at BNX Systems, a leader in controlled access management software based in Vienna, Virginia. While at BNX, Mr. Waits held several key executive positions including Vice President of Business Development and Vice President of Sales. Among his many achievements at BNX, Mr. Waits led a team responsible for closing the largest transaction in company history, a multimillion-dollar agreement with a leading financial institution.
Before joining Brabeion, Mr. Waits spent six years at BMC Software in Houston, Texas. As Director of Business and Corporate Development, Mr. Waits was responsible for several key acquisitions and dozens of OEM relationships and strategic partnerships. Prior to BMC, Mr. Waits worked at Banyan Systems and Compaq Computer in engineering roles. Mr. Waits attended Loyola University and Xavier University.
Mr. Boni is Vice President and Corporate Information Security Officer for Motorola Information Protection Services. Mr. Boni, who has assisted major organizations in both the public and private sectors, brings deep information protection expertise and thought leadership to Brabeion. He has also served on the Board of Directors of the International Society for Policing Cyberspace, the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) and the Board for the Certified Information Security Manager's (CISM) certification sponsored by ISACA.
In his career spanning more than 30 years, Mr. Boni has helped a variety of organizations design and implement cost-effective programs to protect both tangible and intangible assets, leveraging the innovative application of emerging technologies. Mr. Boni has also served as the past chairman of the American Society of Industrial Security (ASIS) Council on Safeguarding Proprietary Information and the Information Technology Governance Institute (ITGI) and on the Board of the Computing Technology Industry Association.
